What Seeds are You Sowing?

Once upon a time, their lived a beautiful man…..a man who walked the earth with a strong presence, humility, grace, compassion, and a heart big enough to hold to whole world.

What was special about this particular man regarded what happened to the world as he passed through it. He was unique, this beautiful man, as was his path…..which included going through dense dark forests, over treacherous and rocky mountain passes, across vast oceans, down serene rivers, meandering through endless fields, even soaring above the clouds. He saw a lot, spent time exploring all that there was to see, while meeting incredible companions as well as guides on his adventures.

While on this path, this beautiful man’s unique gift was held within the satchel he carried over his shoulder and around his chest. It was a sack that could be heavy at times, overflowing even, while other moments it needed his attention to replenish it’s supplies (a ritual around which he became quite adept and was always inventing new ways to do so).

In this satchel, this beautiful man carried seeds. And, everywhere he went, the seeds were released (there are those who believed he may have even had a hole in that satchel). Some seeds were caught by the wind and taken to faraway lands, others were intentionally sowed in rich soil, where he would tend to them, nurture them, and watch them grow.

For every one that he sowed and cared for and watered, there were hundreds that were sent into the world without him knowing. The seeds created dense forests, deposited flowers along rocky paths, were carried over vast oceans, down serene rivers, and resulted in endless fields. They sprouted around the globe resulting in a change in the landscape…the seeds became flowers, that bore fruit that created seeds and the cycle continued.

How do I know this story, you ask? Because, I carry many beautiful seeds from this man in my heart. And, there they have grown. I’ve been lucky enough to see others with the same seeds and to be able to watch them flower within them. I’ll keep them with me, these seeds, tending to them, passing along their fruit and more seeds, always thankful for the beautiful man that sent them in my direction.

This story was written to honor Vincent Martinez-Grieco, my beloved teacher and the founder of Soul Motion (a conscious dance practice) as he was transitioning out of his leadership role with the organization.

Reflect upon this in your life….what seeds are you spreading, what are the gifts that you offer, and how is your influence echoing through the world?

You may be aware of some of your impact….some is yet to be discovered, and perhaps most you may never know.

As I honored Vincent, I also honor you and the effect you have upon us all.

We are all connected….sending ripples to each other…..
